How is weapon accuracy interpolated between ranges?

The wiki lists the accuracy of each weapon at ranges of 4, 15, 30, and 50 tiles. It also says:

Between those ranges, accuracy stats are interpolated.

How exactly are they interpolated? Also, how accurate are weapons at below 4 tiles distance?

This question has answers that may be good or bad; the system has marked it active so that they can be reviewed.

  • This just means they didn't bother testing every range between those.

  • False. These accuracies are defined in the data files (see e.g. Mods/Core/ThingDefs_Misc/Weapons_Guns.xml, search for "AccuracyTouch".

@DanmakuGrazer: Cynicism is not an answer. Also, the referenced explanation isn't about how they tested (or chose to not test) the weapons, but it's about how the whole accuracy system has been built to work. Testing is not even relevant in this context.

You can see weapon accuracy in the tooltip. This value changes as the range changes. In the picture with range of one tile, the bolt action rifle has 65% accuracy. This accuracy remains out to four tiles.

I wouldn't use those wiki numbers. That page lists the bolt action rifle 4 tile accuracy at 50%, which does not match my observation.
