What gamepads are available for Windows that are similar to the PS3 Dualshock 3?
I happen to really like both the look and feel of the original Dualshock controller with my favorite being the PS3's Dualshock 3 controller (the PS3 button is useful and I love the feel of L2 and R2).
I have had success in the past with pairing this controller to a Windows computer for playing games but as it's not natively supported, driver issues and Bluetooth pairing is a struggle. Especially if I want to move between systems and devices.
Even with these workarounds, these controllers haven't been manufactured in years and finding a genuine controller that is not a counterfeit is both difficult and expensive. The quality of these counterfeit controllers and similar knockoffs are also very poor; either by comfort, weight, material, and tactile feedback.
What options are available for a wireless controller with a similar button layout and as similar as possible to the venerable Dualshock 3?
Of note, I really like the position of the directional buttons and their layout as individual buttons (even though the pad is fully connected beneath the plastic), the analog joystick beneath it, and ideally four triggers in the back.
I would be very happy with a knockoff if it is in fact comparable in quality.
